On the Go
🔷 Create and use a Low-Waste Travel Kit
Having reusables ready and integrated into my daily routine can help to avoid single-use plastic while out and about. I will put together a kit with items like a mug, water bottle, utensils, or tote bag to take with me when I leave the house.
On the Go
Choose Secondhand or Refurbished
I will choose a secondhand (e.g., thrifted, resold) or refurbished item the next time I shop, instead of buying a new one, to keep valuable resources in use longer.
On the Go
Ask a Local Restaurant to Allow Reusables or Reduce Packaging
Food businesses are major sources of single-use plastic. I will talk to a local café, food truck, or restaurant about allowing reusable containers, more sustainable materials, or cutting down on unnecessary plastic packaging.
In Digital Spaces
🔷 Learn About the Right to Repair Movement
I will spend 15 minutes learning about the Right to Repair movement and how repair policies influence electronic waste and device longevity.
On the Go
Put Reusables Where I'll Remember Them
Reusables only help if we use them! I will set up a system that helps me remember my reusable bags, bottles, containers, or utensils — whether that means keeping them by the door, in my car, or in my bag.
On the Go
🔷 Refuse One-Time Items
I will refuse single-use items (e.g., napkins, utensils, condiment packets, lids) from restaurants and establishments when I don’t need them.
In Digital Spaces
Clean Up My Desktop
I will spend 30 minutes organizing and deleting unneeded files on my desktop and downloads folder.
In the Outdoors
Leave the Leaves
Fallen leaves, logs, and brush provide shelter and food for wildlife. I will leave natural features in my yard or community space to help strengthen biodiversity and soil resilience.
In Your Community
Pick Up Litter Every Day
A clean community benefits everyone. Each day I am outside, I will pick up 1 pieces of litter daily to keep my community clean and share what I find in the event feed.

Marilyn McSpadden 10/12/2026 2:04 PMI participated in EcoChallenge during Earth Week last Spring. I love how accessable it was and I learned a lot. I also realized that I have already incorporated many of the actions into my daily life which was a very gratifying realization. EcoChallenge is motivating and hopeful!
